Approach to Vertigo in ED

Vertigo is a common clinical dilemma in ED.
Essential Decisions to be made: 1. Is this vertigo ? or is this dizziness or a different symptom. 2. Is the Vertigo Central - ie brainstem or cerebellar in nature - relating to posterior circulation events 3. Is the vertigo Peripheral - ie relating to the vestibular apparatus of the ear 4. Know the differentials for either of these conditions 5. Consider the need for imaging vs trial of symptomatic therapy with a likely discharge plan. Dizziness vs Vertigo
